The NSW Classification was held at Fernances Creek on 5 November 2016. We had a good turnout of horses and members with some travelling as far as New Zealand to attend the day. There were 6 mares, 2 geldings and 1 stallion classified. We even had a few non-Haflinger spectators visiting that wanted to learn more about the breed.
The day started with a ‘Greet and Meet’ coffee of members and visitors, followed by a very busy trot out, free run and photography session of the horses before the judges Cathy Padgen, Carol Fitzpatrick and Coralie Smyth. Once the classification was finished, the members and visitors all sat down to a nice, social lunch.
After lunch Fernances Creek invited Coralie Smyth a qualified Working Equitation instructor to give the members an introduction to Working Equitation. The members then rode their horses through the Working Equitation Course and received instruction and theory on Working Equitation. It was a fun day and so nice to see so many Haflingers on the course.
It was a very successful Classification Day and we hope it will encourage other members to try out Working Equitation and open up another sport for the breed.
